Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I think I have a sexually transmitted disease. My vagina hurts so bad, and it burns. I have sores on my vagina, an increase of discharge, and it smells weird. I have got tests done for sexually transmitted diseases, and I will receive the results only after a couple of weeks.

Earlier this week, I was diagnosed with tonsilitis but was told something else had to be wrong.

Please help me with this.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I am so sorry to hear that you are going through so much pain.

I have also gone through the details and the images (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity) shared.

Burning and increased weird-smelling of the discharge can be because of urinary tract infection and vaginal yeast infection. Please tell me if you are sexually active and if yes, then with just one partner or more than one. How is their sexual wellness or health?

Does the discharge look like cotton cheese? For how long have you been having this problem?

Based on the information shared by you, my immediate recommendations are:-

1) Observe excellent hygiene.

2) Use a good feminine wash to clean the area.

3) Apply Surfaz-SN (Beclomethasone Dipropionate + Neomycin Sulphate + Clotrimazole) cream locally.

4) Keep the area dry.

5) Wear loose cotton undergarments.

6) Avoid intense workouts and exercises.

7) Use a gentle soap to wash underwear.

8) Do not shave your genitals.

9) Use barrier contraceptives like a condom.

Do not worry, as I am always there to help you. Feel free to ask any questions, and please share the details requested for a better assessment of your condition.

Thanks and regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for your response.

Do you think it looks like a sexually transmitted disease with the welts? I have been with other partners, but one was wearing a condom, and the other one was not, which was three weeks ago. Could a yeast infection look like this?

Thank you.

Hello.

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have seen the images (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity), and it appears to be a sexually transmitted infection as the bumps are in small groups. It seems like genital herpes, but I suggest waiting for the test reports to arrive.

As far as yeast infection is concerned, it will not appear like the one in the images. But, at the same time, the signs of cottage cheese-like discharge, itching, and burning during urination are urinary tract infection symptoms.

How are you feeling today? It will be fine in two to three days if it is just an infection.

Do not worry; I am always there to help you. Try to observe excellent hygiene.

Thank you.
