Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have had painful sex from day one of marriage for two years. I also have dry vagina. I was not interested since it was painful. Please help.

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

It can be due to:

  1. Dryness due to infection, improper foreplay, dehydration, age factor, and hormonal imbalance. You can try the natural way by increasing foreplay, which can cause lubrication, or you can use lubricants such as KY Gel (Hydroxyethycellulose).
  2. Injury due to dryness due to deep penetration in a few positions during sex.
  3. Local infection.
  4. Vaginismus can cause muscles in the genitalia to contract and cause pain to both partners. There is a need to increase foreplay duration to reduce fear and bring comfortability.
  5. Congenital abnormality.
  6. History of surgery in the genital region.
  7. Injury of the cervix by penis.
  8. Fibroids.
  9. Recent childbirth.

Kindly share more details regarding the above issue so we can work on diagnosis and management.

I hope this information will help you.

Thanks.
