Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 24-year-old male undergoing spinal tuberculosis treatment for six months. I smoked cigarettes two years ago and switched to vape. Now that I am on TB treatment, is it okay to continue vaping? I find it hard to quit because of my urge to vape.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I want to tell you that vaping is more dangerous because of the same amount of nicotine that goes into your body. So if you want to quit smoking, it is about being dedicated and proactive in your decision-making. You can try a nicotine patch. You can try nicotine chewing gum. Distract yourself by reading, meditating, or talking to somebody when you want to smoke. I will advise you that find a community of people who have quit smoking. Because smoking is dangerous not only now, but the result of smoking seen in the later stage of life is devastating. So I will urge you to find ways to overcome this addiction. You might have bouts of cravings because your brain depends on smoking, so they are ways to act, as I told you. Please try those, and if you need any other help, I am here to help you.

Thank you.
