Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been prescribed Fucidic acid for the white spots that appeared on my penis. They do not cause pain, and the bumps are large. No itchiness on the bumps. I have not applied Fusidic acid yet. No pain in urination. I am HPV positive (variant 56). I want to get a second opinion. I hope it is not syphilis, and I was told it is a bacterial infection only.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

This seems to be a warty lesion. It is small and might grow bigger. This is HPV (human papillomavirus). From time to time, warty lesions can form and can be treated by a local application of salicylic acid 1 %. You can get it from any pharmacy. Apply it twice daily till this lesion fall off. Try to apply on the wart, leaving the surrounding skin intact to avoid irritation.

If you have any more questions, please let me know.

Kind regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

I have been HPV-positive for two years but never had these white bumps. Are you certain that these white round bumps are HPV? The HPV warts I had been like this. They were small round brown, and I currently have these. I do not understand how the white bumps are HPV.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

The second picture (the attachment is hidden to protect the patient's identity) seems to be a wart, but a small one. HPV can present with warts at any time after two years or three years. There is no exact time. Whitish flat lesions are not warts but are asymptomatic. It can be a fungal infection also. Treatment can be by simple Canesten cream (Benzyl alcohol and Polysorbate 60) local application twice daily for two weeks. Please note that HPV infection can be sexually transmitted to your partner. Please have protected sex in the future.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards.
