Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

A lamp fell on my nose and now I have an open wound on the bridge of my nose. My nose really hurts as well. I do not know if it is broken or if it just hurts. Also, I am on a holiday, so I do not know whether I can go sunbathing with the wound or if I should just stay in the shade.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have reviewed the attached photograph (attachment removed to protect patient identity).

I can appreciate the wound. I suggest you apply a topical antibiotic like Neosporin (Neomycin) ointment on the affected area twice daily, take oral antibiotic like tablet Cephalexin 500 mg twice daily for five days and take anti-inflammatory medicines like Ibuprofen for pain and swelling. I would recommend you to stay in shade and avoid direct sunlight on the nose.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
