Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have been taking the contraceptive pill Yasmin for years. Recently, my pharmacy ran out of Yasmin and gave me Yasminelle. Over the last three months (each with Yasminelle) I have had bad bowel movements or IBS, which I have never struggled with before. The only thing that changed was my birth control. Is it possible this is the cause? It also impacted my moods a lot, which has finally settled down. Now I am thinking whether I should try to switch back to Yasmin as I know it works for me. But I am worried that I will go through three more months of hormonal imbalance. I just need advice if I should stick or switch and what the impact could be.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Both tablets have the same composition, but still, they might cause such symptoms. You can switch to your previous Yasmin tablets. Do not worry it would not harm you. But even after switching to Yasmin if those symptoms are there then there must be some other cause and that should be treated.
Thank you.
