Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

From what you described, you have thick, white, cotton-like discharge with itching, irritation, and some smell. This does sound like a vaginal yeast infection (candidiasis). It is very common, especially the first time around, and is usually treatable.

The probable causes for your condition include overgrowth of Candida fungus in the vagina. Sometimes triggered by antibiotics, hormonal changes, tight clothes, poor ventilation, or even stress.

You should get the following investigations done:

  1. Vaginal swab for microscopy and culture (to confirm Candida and rule out mixed infection).

  2. Urine routine if burning on urination.

  3. Blood sugar test.

If confirmed, you should take antifungal vaginal tablets or cream or oral antifungal under a doctor’s supervision. Since I do not have your reports, I suggest you avoid self-medicating.

You can:

  1. Keep the area dry, and avoid tight synthetic underwear.

  2. Wash with plain water, avoid scented soaps.

  3. A gynecologist may prescribe a single oral antifungal tablet (Fluconazole 150 mg once) or a local antifungal pessary or cream, but you must get a prescription after confirmation.

Preventive measures:

  1. Loose cotton underwear.

  2. Avoid unnecessary antibiotics.

  3. Good hygiene, no harsh soaps.

Please get a vaginal swab or at least a video consult with a gynecologist before starting medicines. Update me with test results or symptoms after three to four days so I can guide you further.

I hope this information will help you.

Thanks.
