Will normal eating restore lost weight from unhealthy loss?

Hi doctor,

I am an 18-year-old, 5'5" girl. Over the course of a little over a month, I have gone from around 153 to 130. I have experimented with long fasting days, days of very low calories, and some exercise, also a plant-based diet. Of course, I know I unhealthily lost all this weight, but now I am scared that if I start eating normally again will I gain it back? This cannot happen. What do I do? I am an athlete as well and need to be ready for my soccer preseason in two months. I have been overweight my whole life, and I cannot be fat again.

Can you suggest healthy weight loss, muscle building diet?

Hi doctor,

I stopped taking an 800 calorie diet before three weeks. After that, I started to do HIIT and light weight lifting. I developed extreme migraines, fatigue, body pain, and energy loss. I took 25 grams of carbohydrates every day. I lost up to 8 kilograms on this regime for two months. I was in the weight of 57.5 kilograms before following it. After that, I reached a weight of 49.5 kilograms. Though I was proud to have my weight loss, I became extremely unhappy, moody, unsociable, and felt isolated. I restricted myself from binge eating and I was unable to stop consuming carbohydrates. I put back some weight again. Now I am willing to lose some weight in a healthy way. Kindly help.

Omega-3, proteins, complex carbs aid memory in exams?

Hello doctor,

This is not a health inquiry, but a problem I would need your help to solve. I would like to know what foods are good to eat before a test or exam? I am getting things like omega-3s, proteins, complex carbohydrates and water. My problem is, I cannot find much tangible information on why these things help us perform during tests? Can you point me in the right direction of where I need to go to get this info? Or do you know? What foods are the best to eat before a test?

Can an obsessive calorie intake cause periods to stop?

Hi doctor,

I am 14 years old and I have been obsessing over calories for six months. Since then my period has stopped but when I started being obsessive my period was irregular. I have noticed that I have lost weight and my family and friends have noticed my weight loss and my obsession with calories and food in general. I do not do a lot of sport but I get to 10000 steps most days and I do a seven minutes workout in the mornings.

A few months before, I used to eat around 1000 calories a day and now I eat around 1300 calories a day approximately. I want to eat more because I want to get my period back and I have noticed my boobs have shrunk. However, I do not want to look like I have visibly gained weight or I do not want my stomach to become untoned. I also do not know how much I should eat in order to maintain my weight but I do not think I am losing weight at the moment with eating 1300 calories per day. I spoke to my mom and friends about it and they all encouraged me to eat more but they do not understand that I do not want to look like I have gained weight so I want to try and gain muscle but I do not have a lot of time to go to the gym and do weight training. Do you have any advice?
