Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 25-year-old female. I have been suffering from abdominal pain for the past two days.

1. How long should I wait before seeking medical attention for abdominal pain?

2. What factors, such as duration and frequency, should I consider in deciding when to consult a healthcare professional?

3. What are the common causes of abdominal pain? I understand that it could range from minor issues to more serious conditions.

4. Could you provide an overview of the possible underlying factors?

5. How does the digestive system play a role in causing abdominal pain?

6.Are there specific digestive disorders that could be contributing to my discomfort?

If I decide to seek a medical assessment for my abdominal pain, what type of doctor should I see?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

I read your query and understand your concern.

1) Abdominal pain, can be because of multiple reasons, first evaluate the site of abdominal pain, upper lower or middle, right or left side, or it is diffuse discomfort (possibilities are different considering site and type of pain).

2) Usually it is because of an upset stomach or gut.

3) Lower abdominal pain can be due to urinary tract infections or gynecological reasons if there is anything significant at that end of history.

4) You can use simple antispasmodic medicine like tablet Mebeverine (Mebeverine hydrochloride) 135 mg one to two times per day, meanwhile can take syrup Gaviscon (antacid) for stomach discomfort, you can use these medications for one to two days

5) If persistent symptoms or severe abdominal pain are present, you should be physically examined by either a GP or gastroenterologist to make a proper diagnosis.

6) Meanwhile, avoid eating out or reheating meals for a couple of days.

7) Add yogurt to your diet as well as a source of probiotics.

I hope I have cleared all your doubts.

Thank you.
