Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 35 years old. I have been dealing with an abnormal pressure or knot type feeling in my left gut. Some days it is better than others, and while it never truly causes pain, it does cause discomfort like I feel something is there. It affects my anxiety a lot. This feeling came on after I dealt with lower back pain for months and have finally gotten that pain under control, but the feeling in my left gut has persisted for at least one month now.

I have dealt with gastro issues my whole life and did a colonoscopy and endoscopy maybe around eight years ago. Both those exams came back clean, and I was told I have IBS. My current physician has put me on Dicyclomine and has me on a fiber supplement. She thinks it may be diverticulitis, and time may help with the symptoms.

I am at a point now where most days I can go without hardly feeling it at all, but every once and again, I feel a small pressure. This spikes my diagnosed anxiety, and then my whole stomach goes downhill. It is like a vicious circle. My blood panel came back all normal recently as well.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. Do you feel any pulsation in the area of pressure? Is it continuous kind or occurs intermittently? Are you on any medications currently?

As you have a history of IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), the symptoms you have are likely associated with that. Also, you mentioned that you experienced back pain. To rule out other causes, some diagnostic tests need to be performed.

I suggest you get an ultrasound abdomen done. You can share the test results here. Or consult your doctor in person with the test results. Depending on that, further management will be done.

I hope this helps.
