Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a dark area under my armpit. I do not know the exact reason. I need consultation for the same.

Please help me.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Hope you are doing well.

I have gone through the image (the attachment removed to protect the patient's identity) and the details provided from your end and I do understand your concern.

There are noticeable flakes and areas depicting fungal infection in your underarm areas. Apart from the same, it is normal to have dark underarms due to the overproduction of melanin pigment in underarms which is a normal phenomenon.

The idea of treatment now will be to use medications to treat the underlying cause of infection and along with the same medications to help reduce pigmentation can also be used.

My advice :

1. Apply Luliconazole (antifungal) cream twice daily on underarms for 4 to 6 weeks.

2. Use a Niacinamide and Kojic acid-rich cream to help reduce the pigmentation. Use this cream by applying a thin layer on the pigmented areas at night only for 4 to 5 months.

3. Take a capsule of Itraconazole (antifungal) 200 mg daily after dinner for 2 weeks.

5. Take a tablet of Limcee (Vitamin C) chewable tablet to be consumed after breakfast and after dinner for 2 months to help with reducing the intensity of pigmentation.

6. Avoid close shaving and make sure to frequently change razors.

7. Avoid stagnation of sweat and moisture underarms and make sure to towel dry and air the area under a fan daily for 15 minutes after a bath.

8. Do not share belongings.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them, and take medicines with their consent.

Hope I could be of help.

Stay happy, healthy, and safe.

Take care.

Thanks and regards.
