Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Hope you are doing well.
As per the history provided from your end, it is acne vulgaris. It usually results in the formation of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation as well as acne scarring. It occurs for multiple reasons, including longstanding untreated acne, severe acne due to habitual picking of the acne, and sun exposure. This intensifies hyperpigmentation due to the release of melanin pigment within one's skin. In addition, acne scarring usually results in depressed scars due to decreased collagen within the acne area.
Acne scarring and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation usually subside with specific procedures, as medications have limitations. Therefore I request you undergo the procedures after consultation with a dermatologist. I am providing the details of the procedures below.
My advice :
1. Glycolic acid chemical peels - These peeling solutions are applied to the post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and acne scarring, kept on the skin for at least 5 to 10 minutes, and then washed off. The procedure is usually done every two weeks for a minimum of six sessions and may continue after every three months. Due to their capacity to penetrate the skin to reduce sebum production in the skin pores, they help reduce them, thereby helping with the recurrence of acne and the current hyperpigmentation.
2. Laser techniques are available as carbon lasers, Q switch lasers, and erbium lasers. This helps to reduce the intensity of the depressed scars and the hyperpigmentation due to the mild peeling action and capacity to penetrate through the skin to regularize the overproduction of melanin. Laser techniques are carried out in sessions of at least six every three weeks and may be repeated after every three months following the first six sessions.
3. PRP (platelet-rich plasma) with microneedling - PRP is the component of one's blood that is extracted after drawing 10 to 12 ml of your blood and centrifuged in a machine to help activate the growth factors. These growth factors are injected superficially into the marks or scars using a tiny insulin syringe or applied on the skin after creating micropores using derma rollers by moving them up and down over the affected areas (microneedling). It helps in stimulating collagen production and reducing hyperpigmentation as well. They are also done in sessions of at least six every four weeks. They may initially cause redness on the facial skin for a few days and then subside.
4. Mesotherapy sessions are injections similar to PRP, wherein vitamins for skin rejuvenation are used to reduce skin blemishes and are also done in sessions like PRP treatments.
The procedures mentioned above are done by a professional at a dermatologist's clinic and therefore require direct consultation with a dermatologist. The procedures are the only means to reduce them.
Hope the details were informative and provided clarity.
Thank you.
