Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have been using Tretinoin gel for a while for my back and chest acne, and it has been fine, but one day, I decided to go to the beach and got sunburned. And my doctor prescribed me to put the gel every night so that night I applied it and my skin had a burning sensation for a few second. So I thought it was nothing then I woke up in the morning with red and very irritated skin on my back and chest with an increased amount of acne which was very irritating. And my skin is very rough. What should I do?
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern. Whenever retinoids are used proper sun protection in the form of sunscreens and other measures is necessary, while going to the beach. Use the following medications now for this,
1. Mometasone cream apply twice a day for five days for the acute irritation and stop after that, not to be used more than that.
2. Any sunscreen with SPF more than 50 use it regularly for 15 minutes before going in the sun every three to four hours.
Thank you.
