What is the home remedy for agoraphobia and OCD?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been suffering from agoraphobia and OCD, from all the symptoms that I have been exhibiting for the past four years. On most days, I am on the edge of my seat with a large amount of anxiety, and I am constantly worrying about my breathing and paying attention to different parts of my body, which only increases my anxiety and leads to panic attacks. In the past two years, my agoraphobia and OCD have worsened, which includes my inability to leave my home without having multiple panic attacks, and my blood pressure getting so high that I end up passing out in front of my house. I have tried to contact doctors and get some kind of help in taking medication, but I do not know how I would do this without leaving my home, which is not possible at the moment. I also have a great deal of anxiety and panic when I think that I might have to take medication, as I have never taken medication, and the thought of it makes me feel different and scared. But I have to do something because my life has basically been put on hold until I can figure this out. There are several problems in getting help, including not having health insurance since I cannot pay for it because I do not currently work.

Is there any way to get help from doctors and medication from my home? I know that medication does not solve everything, but I need something to help with my severe panic attacks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

There are some online consultation sites and online portals where those prescriptions can be uploaded and medicines are delivered home. If you have something like this at your place, could you look into local online consultations and get medicines? You will ideally need to be started with an SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) class of medicines, along with a low dose of Benzodiazepine and Propranolol, which will give you good relief and help you with the other symptoms you have mentioned.

Thank you.
