Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am prescribed a 6 x 0.25 mg Alprazolam tablet as a sleeping pill. Is a 1.5 g Alprazolam tablet dangerous when used once?

Answered by Dr. S. Adithya

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern. May I know for what reason you were prescribed this medicine? I would say it is not harmful if you have taken it once. But if you have taken that dose for a longer duration and stopped it abruptly, it will be detrimental.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I got it by myself to get some sleep. How long will I sleep? Is there anything I should do, like drink lots of water and keep hydrated?

Answered by Dr. S. Adithya

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern. That is fine. But not advisable for regular usage, and it can be taken if needed, and that too, not so many, either 0.25 or 0.5 mg. Then, after getting up, you can drink water.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

Now I only have symptoms of headache. What should I do?

Answered by Dr. S. Adithya

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern. In that case, I suggest taking tablet Paracetamol 500 mg for headaches and following sleep hygiene techniques, such as a hot shower before sleep, taking a glass of hot milk before bedtime, avoiding screens, and reading books before sleep.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
