Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had sex on the first day of my period and spotted on the eighth day. My partner did not ejaculate inside me but the condom broke. After that sex, I started overthinking so much because I do not want to get pregnant yet. I drank ginger tea with cinnamon for almost a week. I tend to stress myself and not get enough sleep and I tend to eat only once a day. On the 11th day after we had sex, I have not eaten anything yet. So I decided to eat spicy food and some soda. After that, my stomach feels upset and I danced a little then I suddenly feel nauseous. And it has been continuing for 16th day now. I feel really sick, I want to know if this is a sign of pregnancy or otherthing. When I feel like vomiting only gas will get out from me and my stomach hurts when I put pressure on it. Am I pregnant?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Firstly stop worrying, you are fine. I fully understand your concern and will surely help you. You and your partner had intercourse but see withdrawal is one of the most unreliable methods of birth control. For getting pregnant, the sperms have to be meeting the egg and the fertilized egg has to get planted in the uterus. This is a complex process and it is not so easy. So do not take stress. Stress is reason for delay of periods in almost 25% females. Now just to put your concern to rest please undertake a urine pregnancy test with first urine of the day for an accurate result. Do not drink too much fluid prior to your test. Adhere to all guidelines written on package of pregnancy test kit. Share the outcome so that we can decide upon further management of your menstrual health. Do not worry, there is a very rare possibility of your getting pregnant.

I hope this helps.
