I had little bleeding after taking I-pill. Did I get my periods or is it a side effect of I-pill?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 25-year-old female. I had my periods on the 2nd of this month, then had unprotected sex on the 10th of this month, and took an I-pill on the same day. Since the 18th of this month (2 days), I have been bleeding but not so much as I do in my periods and had abdominal cramps too. Did I actually get my periods, or is it a side effect of the I-pill? Can I be pregnant?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Mild bleeding or spotting after intake of I-pill is a side effect. This may be accompanied by abdominal cramps, bloating, and nausea, similar to symptoms seen during the menstrual cycle. Do not worry, and this will only occur during this cycle. Your regular periods will occur when your usual cycle occurs or may be slightly delayed and may also be slightly heavier than usual.

I hope this was useful.

Regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for the answer.

I have been bleeding for two days, and yesterday the blood was light red, and it got darker now. It is maroon in color. Is that normal?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, that is normal. It may continue to get darker and lesser in quantity. So do not worry.

Regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
