Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had a shunt put in four years ago but over the weekend I started to have pain on the left side of the head and the back. My question is, should I be concerned?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.

I am glad you chose icliniq for your medical-related queries.

I understand your concern and will try to help you with it.

I would like to know further details about your problem:

1. Since when did you start to have headaches?

2. Is it for 1 week only or before also?

3. You feel that headache in which areas of your head? From where did it start? Does it always start on the left side?

4. What kind of headache is this- heaviness, throbbing, stretching, bursting, shooting pain, electric currents like pain, or some other kind?

5. Is it severe, moderate, or mild?

6. Is the headache episodic only or some kind of persistent headache? If episodic headache, how long does one episode of it last (from onset to complete relief without medication)

7. How frequent are these headache episodes before and now? How many times in a week?

8. Do you feel any vomiting, feeling of vomiting, watering from the eye, redness in the eye, or nasal congestion during the headache?

9. How is your mood today?

10. How is your sleep?

11. How is your vision?

12. Have you noticed any trigger factors for this headache?

13. Have you ever undergone a CT (computed tomography) or MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) of the brain or spine?

14. For what problem shunt was put in the brain? Please attach previous medical records.

15. Do you have any fever?
