Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 25-year-old female. Nowadays, I have been experiencing symptoms such as extreme weight loss, a preoccupation with food, and an intense fear of gaining weight. I am deeply concerned about my physical and mental health and believe that I may be struggling with anorexia nervosa. What are the potential physical and psychological health risks associated with anorexia nervosa, both in the short-term and long-term? Can you provide guidance on seeking professional help and the importance of early intervention for individuals with anorexia nervosa? Are there specialized treatment options available that can effectively address anorexia nervosa?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query.

You may have anorexia nervosa. It can even lead to major depressive disorder, and anxiety disorder. It will lead to nutritional deficiency if it continues for a long time. If you have chronic malnutrition because of it, then it may lead to weak immunity, which in turn can lead to infections like tuberculosis, the common cold, etc. You may have gastric issues because of the frequent use of laxatives and emetic agents. I suggest you follow the instructions mentioned below.

You should follow the below lifestyle to deal with it. It may help you but still, you need to take psychological sessions.

1. You should do exercises daily for 30 to 45 minutes like at least going for a walk.

2. You should do meditation for 20 minutes daily, just sit in one place in a comfortable position and try to concentrate on your normal breathing.

3. You should eat healthy, home-cooked foods. You can take small quantities of food with more frequency. Eat more carbohydrates and proteins.

4. You must drink enough water.

5. You should spend quality time with friends and family daily.

6. You should spend time on creative hobbies like reading good books, writing journals, painting, drawing, and learning new skills.

7. You should get enough sleep daily.

8. Avoid tobacco, alcohol, or any substance abuse.

I hope that you got your answer.

Thanks and regards.
