Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 20 years old and currently suffering from anxiety which might later lead to depression. I used to get anxiety pangs when I was a kid. But then for a few months, it is been horrible. I still feel so low, moody, and disheartened without any reason. I feel very sad and start crying. I want to be happy but the things which made me happy make me sad now. I withdraw myself from friends, family, and people. I want to come out of this. Please help me.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. Kindly screen yourself for clinical depression and anxiety disorder. Do a self-rating test like Zung's self-rating depression scale and Zung's self-rating anxiety scale which you can easily find online. If it is indicative of moderate to severe depression or anxiety disorder consult a psychiatrist in person for detailed evaluation and treatment. Treatment is available in the form of medications and psychotherapy. Besides I would suggest you follow some simple steps that can be of help like practicing relaxation techniques like breath relaxation, following a flexible routine, exercising regularly, and eating a balanced diet rich in antioxidants and omega fatty acids. Also, avoid caffeinated drinks. Share your feelings with family or close friends even if you do not feel like doing it as sharing helps a lot. If that is not feasible maintain a stress diary and log down your thoughts daily uncensored and never read them again.

Remember every problem has a solution you just need to try solving it and help is just a step away. Feel free to ask if you have any further queries.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Regards.
