Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I was 15 years old when I underwent surgery for stent placement. I am 25 years old now and I am still taking Enalapril 20 mg once a day. Recently I have noticed changes in my heartbeat for a while. Though I am in decent shape, I get winded by running up the staircase. I am doubtful if the stent had failed. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your first query consult is on us! There could be multiple reasons for overwhelming heartbeats. A few of them are listed below. The reasons are atrial fibrillation leading to shortness of breath and stent failure or altered heart function. I suggest you to follow a few instructions below. Do ECG (electrocardiogram) - This test is to be done preferentially during rapid heartbeat to pick up the rhythm, Holter monitoring - This test can be done when the symptoms are occurring on a daily basis, Echocardiography - This test is done to evaluate the heart and stent function. I also suggest restricting your fluid intake and taking diuretics and beta blockers as prescribed for medical management. Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them, and take medications with their consent. I hope this has helped you. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
