Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I need an opinion on BCR-ABL quantitative report. I am on Imatinib for chronic myeloid leukemia.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

There are no abnormal premature cells in CBC in the attached report (attachment removed to protect patient identity). So I presume that the hematological response is very good. However, I suggest further investigating the peripheral smear examination report to check for any premature cells because the peripheral smear examination will be more conclusive for checking premature cells.

In PCR (polymerase chain reaction) testing number of BCR-ABL copies seems to be less. So suggesting that treatment is working. However, kindly send a report of January and CML (chronic myeloid leukemia) detected to check for an exact reduction in the number of copies after treatment.

USG scan abdomen also should be checked to look for spleen size.

I hope this helps.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I have attached all the reports. Kindly look into it.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I am sorry about your ill health and cancer. I have seen attached reports (attachment removed to protect patient identity).

Your report and histopathology reports are suggestive of CML type blood cancer. In your latest report, the IS scale was 0.82, and the P210 copy was 10924 in number. So you were put on Imatinib drug, which useful in treating this type of cancer. Now, after approximately four to five months of chemotherapy with Imatinib, your CBC came back normal, and P210 copy reduced to 141, and the IS scale is also reduced. Hence suggestive that your treatment is working.

So you can continue with Imatinib for the next few months. Do not lose hope. You can live with CML as well.

I hope this helps.
