Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 17-year-old female. I weigh 159 pounds and am 5 feet 5 inches tall. I just discovered what I presume to be a cyst on the top of my vagina that has not gone away. Before my regular periods, I generally have a cyst at the bottom of my vagina. To provide some context, I had an ovarian cyst on both ovaries last year, for which I took pain relievers and birth control for six months. I am now off birth control and trying to figure out why I keep getting vaginal cysts. Another piece of information that may be useful is that I was diabetic at one time in my life. I feel my sugar level has been out of whack, owing to my meal intake throughout the months. As a result, I have observed dark areas around my neck and between my breasts. I have had steroid cream prescribed to me before, which cleaned it up, but only temporarily. I would want to know what will permanently remove these black skin spots. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

The dark areas on your neck and between your breasts are called linea nigricans, and they are indicators of impending insulin resistance, which may be present already or develop over time, indicating possible diabetes in the future. You should walk for 45 to 60 minutes daily and consume a low-calorie diet of fewer than 1500 calories per day, mainly fruits and vegetables. It will only go away permanently if you healthily lose weight. Second, about the cyst you stated surrounding your vagina, it would be best if you had a gynecologist inspect your vagina, and then you can be sure.

I hope I have answered your question.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.
