Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am trying to determine my skin type in order to make informed choices about the makeup I use. My skin tends to be oily in specific areas, including my chin, cupid's bow, and forehead. However, the oiliness is particularly severe on my nose, where makeup application seems to worsen its appearance. Upon applying makeup, my nose appears to have a peach fuzz-like texture, along with small bumps. Additionally, I struggle with blackheads on the lower sides of my nose. As summer has arrived, there are tiny dots beneath my lips and three pimples have emerged. I am interested in identifying my specific skin type and learning about potential treatments to achieve smooth, clear, and radiant skin. Also, my skin is sensitive. Kindly provide your advice.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understood your concern.
I have reviewed the reports you attached (attachments removed to protect the patient’s identity), you exhibit a combination skin type, characterized by oiliness in the T-zone of your face in comparison to the V-area. Additionally, you are dealing with grade two to three acne. Firstly I would like to inform you that acne Vulgaris is a common skin issue that occurs during adolescence and adulthood.
It affects the oil glands, primarily manifesting in areas dense with these glands, such as the face, chest, back, and upper arms. To address this, I suggest you initiate the use of gel containing Clindamycin Topical 1 % w/w and Nicotinamide 4 % w/w during the daytime specifically targeting pimples. During nighttime, I suggest you apply a gel containing Benzoyl Peroxide over the entire face for approximately two to three months.
I also suggest you consult your general practitioner before starting a capsule of Doxycycline 100 mg once daily for a span of six weeks. For cleansing your face, you can opt for a gentle face wash twice daily. Alongside these treatments, I suggest you implement certain dietary adjustments such as, avoid consuming oily, spicy, and junk foods, as well as milk products and non-vegetarian items. Staying hydrated by consuming ample water is crucial for maintaining skin hydration. I hope this has helped you. Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.
Thank you.
