Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have suffered from sore on my right thigh for the past three days. It started eight days back like a small blister. I am unable to walk correctly. Kindly suggest medicine for this that has appeared in the past three days. Yes, it is a painful lesion and there is oozing. There is no fever. Please help.

Thanks.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

The concern you are facing is termed furuncle. This is a sore-like bacterial infection that affects any part of the body. From the details mentioned, the sore could be due to friction on the thigh area during walking. They may also occur due to stagnation of sweat and moisture on the affected area, wearing wet clothes, and constant touching or friction from fabric or clothes of any kind. I recommend oral and topical antibiotics for five days and four weeks. Since the sore is profound, in case of any severe symptoms, I suggest you consult a doctor in person for further management, like dressing and removing pus from the inside.

My advice:

1. Consume one capsule of Augmentin 625 mg after breakfast and one capsule after dinner for five days. This is an antibiotic, and in case of any history of allergy to this antibiotic, please do not take it.

2. Consume one tablet of Pantop 40 (Pantoprazole) before breakfast and one tablet 30 minutes before dinner to prevent acidity from antibiotics. Use for five days.

3. Apply Mupi ointment (Mupirocin) on the affected area thrice daily for three to four weeks or until the sore subsides.

4. Lukewarm salt water fomentation can be done for 10 minutes daily on the affected area.

5. Make sure to use soft and comfortable fabric and moisturize the area once they are healed so that there is less friction.

6. Kindly consult a doctor in person in case of severe symptoms.

7. Avoid oily and fried food, sweets, red meat, milk, and dairy products. Ensure to consume more fruits, vegetables, fiber, and at least three liters of water daily.

8. This Venusia max cream (Propylene glycol) can be used as moisturizer after the areas healed so that there is less friction on the affected area

I hope this information will help you.

Thanks.
