How do I manage gastrointestinal bleeding and stomach upset?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Yesterday and the day before, I had long hours of travel. I had been eating out for a few days. Today I noticed some blood on my underwear. I have had an upset stomach since yesterday. It hurts when I have to go to the bathroom to relieve myself. My stool is not hard, but it pains when I have to go to the bathroom.
I have had rectal bleeding before, also. It happened last year. I was given some powder to take with milk or water to soften the stool. The symptoms got better with Daflon 500 and Lactifiber.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have reviewed your concern, and your symptoms suggest an anal fissure. You must avoid pushing hard while passing the stool, take plenty of water, and chew food well. Besides, continue taking fiber and take a sitz bath twice daily. (Note: A Sitz bath is taking a tub with warm water and sitting for around 10 minutes in the tub, so your anal area gets healed).
I suggest you apply Xylocaine cream before passing the stool. I hope it will help you. If you still do not feel well, let us know so we can help you. You can stop Daflon (Diosmin and Hesperidin - Flavonoids).
I hope this helps you.
Thank you.
