Why is my baby not sleeping even after taking milk?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My baby is not sleeping after he takes 100 ml milk and mother's milk also. But still, he wants to drink and start crying.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Based on your baby's current weight, he really should not be taking more than 50 ml if feeding every two hours or 80 ml if feeding every three hours. Beyond this, the baby may be overfed and might be crying not because he is still hungry but because he is in pain (because his stomach is overstretched).

Babies have a suck reflex. Place a bottle in his/her mouth, and the baby will suck reflexively. So you need to control the amount of milk ingested. Once the baby reaches a certain volume as described above (based on how often you feed), you need to stop feeding to properly digest what he has just eaten.

I hope this helps.
