Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Your scan report (attachments removed for patient identity protection) shows features of PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and grade 1 fatty liver. This is a common problem among young adults today, usually due to unhealthy lifestyles. Management depends on your symptoms and why this scan was done.
The treatment will vary depending on whether you have irregular periods, absent periods, acne, or infertility. Please get back with the same. The primary modality of treatment at this stage will, however, be lifestyle changes-
- Healthy Diet: A well-balanced and nutritious diet is important for managing PCOS. Focus on whole foods, including fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. Limit the intake of processed foods, sugary snacks, and beverages.
- Weight Management: Maintaining a healthy weight or losing excess weight if overweight. Regular physical activity and a calorie-controlled diet are typically recommended for weight management.
- Regular Exercise: Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity per week, such as brisk walking, cycling, swimming, and strength training exercises.
- Stress Management: Implementing stress management techniques, such as relaxation exercises, deep breathing, yoga, meditation, or engaging in hobbies and activities you enjoy and quitting smoking and limiting alcohol.
- Regular Sleep Schedule: Maintaining a consistent sleep schedule and getting adequate sleep is important for hormonal balance and overall health. Aim for seven to nine hours of quality sleep each night.
- Regular Medical Check-ups: Regularly visiting a healthcare professional is important for monitoring your PCOS symptoms, managing any associated health conditions, and adjusting treatment as necessary. They can provide guidance and support throughout your PCOS journey.
Remember that every individual with PCOS is unique, and the effectiveness of lifestyle changes may vary. It is important to work closely with a healthcare professional or registered dietitian specializing in PCOS to develop a personalized plan that suits your needs and health goals.
The fatty liver is likely due to increased consumption of fatty foods and decreased exercise. The above measures will help with that. Stage 1 is reversible with the above measures, so take control now.
Some additional blood tests to be done are liver function test, lipid profile, thyroid function test, hemoglobin A1C (HbA1C) test, and fasting blood sugar.
Please get back with a complete history for more specific advice.
Thank you.
