What is the cause of the burning sensation on my waist?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a burning sensation on my waist. Please tell me what could be the cause?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your HVS (high vaginal swab) was negative, so I presume it did not have discharge. Have you done a pelvic scan because if there are infection and collection at the pouch of Douglas, you may not see a visible discharge. Do you have a regular menstrual cycle, like a predictable cycle? The pain you get around be the time of your ovulation could be a sign of an ovarian cyst, pains of the cyst come towards ovulation.

Try to do a scan and get back to me through this platform. I may prescribe some antibiotics and analgesics for the pain. You can get Ciprofloxacin, Flagyl (Metronidazole), and Doxycycline, and take them for seven days. Ibuprofen 400 mg b.d (twice daily) for four days.

I hope this helps.

Kindly revert so I can assist you further.

Thank you.
