Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have done a cone biopsy before a couple of years due to dysplasia caused by HPV. Before a year, I did a Papanicolaou test and it showed that there is an absence of injury. Before a week, I did a Papanicolaou test and the result showed a moderate dysplasia suggestive of class IIIA. The doctor advised me to do a biopsy and I was told that it is unlikely to have dysplasia after doing cone biopsy. How to proceed further?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The report needs to be concerned (attachment removed to protect patient identity). There is a need to do another cone biopsy definitely. It is necessary to check the margins of the cone while doing another cone biopsy. If it is still positive, then removal of the cervix called trachelectomy can be taken as an option. As dysplasia has come back after doing a cone biopsy, then it indicates invasive cancer. I suggest you recheck your biopsy report by consulting another pathologist.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
