Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Is it necessary to have a LEEP surgery in CIN1?

Answered by Dr. Uzma Arqam

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through the attached reports (attachment removed to protect patient identity). Your results showed cervicitis with metaplasia and suspected CIN1 (cervical intraepithelial neoplasia). In a colposcopy, it should be discussed in detail. It needs treatment soon. Mostly, cervical cancer occurs due to infection with human papillomavirus. CIN1 is a precancerous lesion, and if left untreated, it results in cancer in coming years. Usually, CIN1 is treated with a loop or large loop excision of the transformation zone (LLETZ). So, it is better to have it to prevent its maturity to high-grade cervical cancer in the coming years.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
