Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have had a lump on the left side of my neck under my jaw for three months. I have got an MRI and CT scan done. Initially, I was given a ten-day course of antibiotic tablet Amoxicillin 500 mg; however, it did not help. I have a family history of lymphoma and other types of cancers, because of which I am concerned. However, I was not sick before or when the lump appeared. Also, I do not have any infections, as per my blood reports. Currently, I am taking tablet Ozempic 1 mg once a week.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
I have reviewed the shared images (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). The neck node marked in the image appears to be within normal limits. Nodes in the neck can be detected on CT (computed tomography) scan and MRI (magnetic resonance imaging). Only if they look pathological or are significantly enlarged should we get them investigated. Do you have a history of fever or neck infection?
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I do not remember having a neck infection. However, sometimes I have low-grade fevers during which the temperature has not exceeded 100.5 F (Fahrenheit). A dose of tablet Tylenol helps in reducing the fever.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I believe that it is only a non-specific node without any concerning features and does not need an FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology).
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
