Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Six months ago, I experienced an abnormal heartbeat. I went to the doctor, who recommended I take Metoprolol succinate. For the past four weeks, I have been feeling some discomfort in my chest and experiencing an abnormal heartbeat, so I have been taking the same medicine on my own. Today, I had an ECG, which showed a low T-wave result. (I took Metoprolol succinate twice today.) Am I in danger? Please advise, as I am diabetic.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have carefully reviewed your concern and would like to explain that your ECG (electrocardiogram) recordings do not show any pathological changes (attachment removed to protect patient identity). So, please relax and do not worry about it. However, I recommend discussing with your attending cardiologist the possibility of further investigating any potential cardiac arrhythmia. Ambulatory 24 to 48-hour ECG monitoring and a stress cardiac ultrasound would be helpful. If any concerns arise from those tests, a cardiac MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) would provide a clearer understanding of the cardiac structure and function.
Thanks and regards.
