Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a bit concerned about my 11-year-old son's weight, its crossed 150 pounds and I am wondering if his current obesity might have any long-term health implications. Considering his health history, which includes occasional complaints of joint pain and low energy, what specific risks might he face due to his weight, and are there any immediate steps I should take to address this concern? What kind of diet and physical activities would you recommend for him? I want to ensure his overall well-being and prevent any potential health issues associated with obesity.

Thank you.

Hello,

I am glad you chose icliniq for your medical-related queries.

I can understand your concerns.

Yes, actually it is true that obesity comes with lots of complications so it is better to prevent it now. If it keeps increasing, it may lead to severe health issues, such as the production of hormones, low energy, and joint pain, and there is a risk of developing cardiac diseases in the future, such as a high level of cholesterol and diabetes. All these things can be considered as risk factors in the future. So, I would suggest you prevent it now by exercising such as running, jogging, yoga, and even weight lifting, and in diet, he should take a low-calorie diet and avoid sugar-containing products completely. Give him a high protein diet such as eggs, vegetables, soups, and juices. I would suggest you check his thyroid levels because such weight gain can be associated with hypothyroidism as well.

I hope this has helped you. Please feel free to reach me again, in case of further queries.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
