Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 20 years old. Yesterday, I got hit on my ear and it is blocked. The sound is not going inside, and I am hearing a lot of air sound. What should I do?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

What do you mean by air sounds? Do you hear noises, or is there any ringing of the ears? Since you have hearing impairment following a slap, there are two possibilities. One is there may be trauma to the eardrum, which might have perforated with consequent hearing loss. Else, it might be trauma to the inner ear with hearing impairment and tinnitus or ringing. Did you have any bleeding from the ear?

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

No bleeding. I can hear everything, but it is like more air sound when in silence. Sound is not going deep inside just I can hear from outside.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

If there is no hearing impairment, then there is nothing to worry about. Trauma to ear often makes ears sensitive and reactive to normal stimuli, and one can even have ringing sounds. If there is no giddiness or ringing in ears and hearing is fine. There is nothing to worry about. However, if there is any decrease in hearing, you need to get your ears checked for the possible tear in the eardrum and maybe even a hearing test. Otherwise, nothing needs to be done.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I feel like numbness in the ear, and for how long does it takes to become normal? Can I get any medication for it? If yes, please give any prescription.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It will take a few days. You do not need to take any medicines unless you have pain. You can take any medication like Lyser D or Zerodol SP if there is pain. Only precaution you need to take is to avoid entry of water into ear just in case if there is a perforation.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I will contact you if any serious issue happens.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The only thing you need to look out for is giddiness, ringing in the ears, hearing impairment, and any discharge from the ear. In the absence of these, there is no need to worry.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
