Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My baby has had a runny nose for the past few days. He had also developed a cough and makes a wheezy sound. He does not have a fever. He does not have any other health issues. I gave him Ketotifen syrup along with a normal saline nasal drop. But his condition is not improving. He is also having difficulty sleeping as he wakes up coughing. He is drinking less water.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

I suggest a few tips to help your baby breathe more easily.

1. Keep your baby's nose clear. Use a bulb syringe or suction device to remove any mucus from your baby's nose. This can help to reduce congestion and make it easier for your baby to breathe.

2. Use a humidifier. If the air in your home is dry, using a humidifier can help to moisten the air and make it easier for your baby to breathe. Be sure to clean the humidifier regularly to prevent the growth of bacteria and mold.

3. Elevate your baby's head. This can help to reduce congestion and make it easier for him to breathe. You can do this by placing a rolled-up towel or pillow under the head of his mattress.

4. Offer plenty of fluids. Encourage your baby to drink plenty of fluids, such as breast milk, formula, or water. This can help to keep your baby hydrated and thin out any mucus in the respiratory tract.

5. Monitor your baby's breathing, especially if you notice any changes in his breathing pattern.

6. If you notice that your baby is breathing rapidly or struggling to breathe, seek medical attention immediately.

I hope this has helped you.

Thanks and regards.
