Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 19-year-old male. I lost someone who meant so much to me. So, I cry a lot when I get reminded of her. Suddenly, I wake up from my sleep breathing heavily. I seem to be having a panic attack. It happened a couple of times and it hurts when I get reminded of her. Wherever I go, I imagine her suddenly in that place. It hurts a lot. I am neither on any medications nor do I have any cardiac problems. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I am so glad that you have trusted us with your health. I am here to help you regain your quality of life.

I can understand your problem. It is tough to face this type of trouble in life. You may have pathological grief. You must keep yourself busy and active. Do not stay alone. I suggest you do the following:

  1. You should exercise daily for 30 to 45 minutes like at least going for a walk.
  2. You should do meditation for 20 minutes daily. Just sit in one place in a comfortable position and try to concentrate on your normal breathing. Do not stop or force yourself to stop your thoughts, just let it be. You will feel relaxed by doing this.
  3. You should eat healthy home-cooked foods and avoid junk foods.
  4. You must drink enough water.
  5. You should spend quality time with friends and family daily.
  6. You should spend time on creative hobbies like reading good books, writing journals, painting, drawing, and learning new skills or language or musical instruments.
  7. You should sleep sufficiently for about seven to eight hours daily.
  8. You must avoid tobacco or alcohol or any type of substance abuse.

Live your life. Do not just spend it. Be bold and confident. If you still have symptoms that persist even after following the above advice for four to six weeks, then you need to start taking medications for a short duration.

Do let me know if you want any further help.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
