Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I was out partying last night and had too much drink. I ended up in the hospital and got discharged this morning. I passed out yesterday and hit my head, wondering if it might be a concussion. Please help.

Thanks.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I would like to know some details about your symptoms, as you mentioned that you were drunk and passed out.

  1. Were you under the influence of alcohol only?
  2. Do you remember the incident exactly?
  3. Does someone eyewitness the exact incident?
  4. Have you passed out first and then had a fall?
  5. Do you have any episodes of seizures?
  6. Do you have urinary incontinence or tongue bite during the episode?
  7. After how long have you regained consciousness?
  8. Have you seen bleeding from the ear, nose, head, cut mark, or scalp wound?
  9. After regaining consciousness, what symptoms you had?
  10. Is there any pressure in the head?
  11. Is there any history of such an episode of passing out? If yes, please describe.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

1. I was influenced by alcohol.

2. I passed out suddenly due to the alcohol, and my friends caught me. I threw up many times. When the ambulance picked me up, I fell just outside the apartment and hit my head.

3. I passed out first, and when I was on my way to the ambulance, I fell and hit my head.

4. I have a small wound on my right forehead with small amounts of dry blood.

5. I mainly had pain in my head. When I am not on screen time and close my eyes in a dark room, the pressure in my head starts to feel better. I ended up in the hospital and have read through the summary of what happened. And they were going to do a CT (computed tomography) scan but could not do it since I did not allow them for some reason. I was drunk. So I am just worried if the doctors want to do a CT scan. Could it be just in case, or did they think I had a concussion? They discharged me in the morning and diagnosed me with ethyl alcohol poisoning. I am just worried if there is a concussion or not.

Thanks.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

You mentioned that your head was hit and found an injury mark with blood over there. CT (computed tomography) scan should be done to look at the brain. No one can tell by history whether any internal injury happened or not.

I hope this information will help you.

Thanks.

Investigations to be done

Computed tomography.
