Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been suffering from bad constipation and hard stools for two weeks. I also had this issue two years back that too for a long time, maybe for four months. That time I took a syrup and now became resistant to it. My constipation does not get right even after giving that syrup. I heard laxative granules are better options. What is your say on this? Can I try them? Can you please recommend me a good brand?

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Please understand that constipation is a lifestyle disease, and medications may not be of much help.

Are you following the golden rules to prevent constipation?

1) Drink two liters of water daily.

2) Increase physical activity. For example, walk 5 km, do yoga, play games, etc.

3) Most importantly, increase intake of boiled vegetables and fruits.

4) Do not take carbonated beverages, alcohol, or junk foods, and quit smoking.

Thank you.
