Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had sexual intercourse with my wife in the morning and I ejaculated inside her. In the evening she took an Unwanted-72 pill. I had sexual intercourse with her again after 68 hours but did not ejaculate inside her. She has a normal period cycle and it is her first time taking the pill. She has not gotten pregnant before. Is there a chance that she will get pregnant? Does she need to take another pill?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Did this sexual history happen after she got her period? If your wife had taken the emergency contraceptive pill Unwanted-72 (Levonorgestrel) at the proper time and dosage, then there is no need to take the pill again. She will get withdrawal bleeding after five to ten days. Since she had the pill after penetrative sex, it is not necessary to take it again as you did not ejaculate inside her the second time.

Thank you.
