Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 14 years old and was recently prescribed the Rigevidon contraceptive pill because of irregular periods. I have been using the medication for over two weeks, and my skin has changed significantly. I researched it and found that taking that pill seems to be a common cause of my acne's worsening. What can I do? Which contraceptive pills can improve my acne as well as help with periods? Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read the query, and I can understand your concern.

Your doctor will be best able to adjust the dose of the medicine because it is essential. Once you begin having regular periods, you should cease taking the medications. It is there to give a jump start and put things in place. Long-term dependence is not something I advise. Since acne is a hormonal issue in your case, it will automatically improve as your periods improve. Never pick, pinch, or burst your acne. Use a retinoid cream like Tretinoin. However, before you begin, read the safety profile or consult your doctor. Use oil-cleansing face wash to regulate the skin.

I hope this will help you.

Thank you.
