Hi doctor,
I am sharing my bedroom with my father, he is 66 years old. He is in generally good health and has ulcerative colitis. I am just having an issue nowadays where he keeps sneezing and coughing without covering his face all over the room. I assume that it is due to an allergy. He does not like to wear mask and thinks it is funny when he coughs or sneezes around me. Nothing to do with Coronavirus.
I just wanted to know your expert opinion if I could get something from him because I feel disgusted when I see him coughing and sneezing around me. Is this cough and sneeze harmlesss? Easily taken care of by our immune system or would I possibly get some illness from him and start coughing and sneezing myself?

In times of coronavirus, that is the first thing that comes to my mind. Cough and nasal congestion are some of the symptoms of coronavirus sadly. If that is the case, there is a very high likely hood you can get it from him.
However, if you have got him tested and it is negative, it is more likely to be allergic. If so, it is not possible to transfer the disease to you just by being in your proximity. If possible start him on antihistamines and nasal spray as soon as possible to relieve him of his symptoms. I will give you a prescription for the same.
