Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I suffer from a runny nose, cough, and nasal blockage and want to know the effective treatment. Kindly suggest.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

You might be suffering from a viral upper respiratory infection. I suggest you follow the below-mentioned instructions:

  1. Take a tablet of Phenylephrine twice daily for five days, which acts as a decongestant.
  2. Take the tablet Paracetamol SOS (whenever you have a fever).
  3. Take vitamin C lozenges four times a day for three days.
  4. Steam inhalation should be done thrice daily.
  5. Avoid excess spicy foods and fatty meals.
  6. Drink warm water for relief.
  7. Take one tablespoon of turmeric powder with hot milk early in the morning daily.
  8. If no improvement is seen in two to three days, then a CBC (complete blood count) investigation and auscultation should be checked.
  9. Antibiotics can be started if the report shows any bacterial infection.
  10. After the investigations are done, provide the report to suggest a better treatment.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them, and take medications with their consent.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
