Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 34-year-old female, and I have tested positive for COVID-19 (coronavirus of 2019). This is the third time in the last three years. I was hospitalized once but now, I am just quarantined at home with very mild symptoms. I have been vaccinated three times for COVID. I am done with this and believe it is high time to get some answers on how to take care of my health and what I can do to overcome this virus or any virus in that sense. I want to know the possible prevention methods to stay safe from viruses. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query, and I can understand your concern.

As someone who has been infected with COVID-19 (coronavirus of 2019) multiple times, it is understandable that you want to take proactive steps to protect your health and prevent future infections. Here are some general recommendations for preventing the spread of viruses:

  1. Get vaccinated: The COVID-19 vaccine is the most effective way to prevent severe illness, hospitalization, and death from COVID-19. If you have not already done so, I strongly recommend getting vaccinated as soon as possible.
  2. Boost your immunity: In addition to getting vaccinated, there are several lifestyle changes you can make to boost your immune system and help prevent viral infections. These include getting enough sleep, eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, managing stress, and quitting smoking.
  3. Practice good hygiene: Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or use hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol if soap and water are not available. Avoid touching your face, especially your eyes, nose, and mouth. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or the inside of your elbow when you cough or sneeze, and dispose of used tissues immediately.
  4. Wear a mask: Wear a mask in public places, especially in areas with high transmission rates or where social distancing is difficult to maintain. This can help prevent the spread of respiratory droplets that can transmit viruses like COVID-19.
  5. Practice social distancing: Avoid close contact with people who are sick or have symptoms of a respiratory infection. Maintain at least 6 feet of distance between yourself and others whenever possible.
  6. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces: Use a household cleaning spray or wipe to disinfect frequently touched surfaces like doorknobs, light switches, keyboards, and phones. This can help prevent the spread of viruses that may be present on these surfaces.
  7. Stay home if you are sick: If you develop symptoms of a respiratory infection like fever, cough, or shortness of breath, stay home from work or school and avoid contact with others until you are feeling better. This can help prevent the spread of infection to others in your community.

I hope I have answered your question.

Thank you.
