Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I had undergone an ultrasound scan as a part of the medical fitness examination to join a government job. In the scan, it was observed that I have a hemangioma on the right lobe of the liver measuring about 1.3 x 1.6 centimeters. I underwent a non-ionic contrast-induced computed tomography scan (CT) of the abdomen and pelvis as suggested by a hepatologist. During the scan, it was observed that I had benign hemangioma. The doctor asked me not to worry because hemangiomas are usually seen in females. I am a 36-year-old female. My husband and I tried to have intercourse on the ninth day of my period as we were willing for a second child. I doubt that since we had intercourse the next day after the CT scan, will it cause any problem to the baby if I conceive? Please help us.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I hope you are doing good. If intercourse takes place on the next day of the contrast computed tomography (CT) scan, there is no need to worry. The contrast agent and the events surrounding fertilization and early embryo development (if it happens) are independent of each other. If the contrast agent is given before the date of conception, it does not have any effect. So please be relaxed as there is no such risk of a contrast agent affecting the baby in the events mentioned by you.
Thanks and regards.
