Is an accidental cut at the seam of the scrotum concerning?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I cut the seam of my scrotum, which I believe is the raphe at the base of my penis while shaving with an electric trimmer. It is a decent-sized gash, and the skin is flipped over. Is this something I should seek medical evaluation for, or should I just let it heal? I do not want to have erectile problems. However, there was no pain, and it stopped bleeding. I am currently using ointment Neosporin.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Suppose the bleeding has stopped, then there is no need to go for an evaluation. Just avoid wearing tight underwear for a few days. Allow this to heal. Keep skin dry and clean. You may take any over-the-counter pain killer if you develop pain.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor. Thanks for your response. Do you believe I damaged anything important? Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

No. You did not damage anything important. Just remain relaxed. This is a minor injury, and the bleeding has stopped. Just keep the particular part clean and avoid tight underwear for quick healing.

Thank you.
