Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 21-year-old female. I am currently on Uribel and Gemtesa medications. I was diagnosed with a UTI and BV two months ago. They have been cleared now, but my bladder has worsened since then. My urologist did a cystoscopy, and nothing was found. A pelvic scan was done a few days ago, but the results are yet to come. I want your advice.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

There are a few possibilities. One is cystitis, inflammation of the bladder, which causes urgency, infrequent urination, dysuria, and incomplete emptying of the bladder. The other possibility is urethritis which is less likely to happen in females. In case of cystoscopy, if you get a bladder biopsy, it will be helpful. You are on Uribel (Methonamie, Sodium phosphate, Phenyl salicyclate, Methylene blue, and Hyoscyamine sulfate) and Gemtesa (Vibegron), and those medications are to treat overactive bladder. If it is not useful, I suggest you to get a bladder biopsy for a better diagnosis and further treatment. There are other medications for this condition, but a bladder biopsy is required to suggest those medicines. Antibiotics will not helpful. There is a possibility of interstitial cystitis, and since the medications you take are not beneficial, intravesical botox injections will be the next step in managing this condition.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
