Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have very dark lips and I have never taken alcohol or smoked. I do not have diabetes or thyroid.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
They are generally normal unless you have any symptoms like itching on them. Get complete hemogram done. Rarely vitamin B12 deficiency may cause it and it is also reflected in megaloblastic anemia. Avoid applying any cosmetic or frequent touching. Apply sunscreen Sun cross aqua gel at 8, 11, and 2 o'clock over them. Avoid sun. Take antioxidant capsules (E-Lycoplus or similar from other brand) twice daily revert if you have generalized body darkening not racial. I hope this helps.

Patient's Query
Thank you doctor,
I do not go out in the sun and I have vitamin D and slight vitamin B1 deficiencies. It is below the prescribed range. I also have PCOS. My MCH is below the prescribed range. My RDW-SV, CD, PDW, MPV, PLCR and uric acid is slightly above the normal range. I also get a lot of hair fall.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
PCOD (polycystic ovary disease) has hormonal abnormalities. Darkening of lips can occur due to that particularly when adrenal gland is involved but that will not restrict to lips only. It will be on all skin and other mucous membranes. If you have normal skin according to your family skin color rest assured, it is not due to hormonal imbalance but just normal. Hairfall is also part of PCOD. For hair fall take tablet Follihair twice daily and use Minoxidil 5% solution over the scalp 1 ml twice daily. Keep healthy diet and exercise. Get proper care of your PCOD, generally it tends to improve with age and pregnancy. I hope this helps.
