Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My period has been delayed for two weeks, and I am stressed. I never had sex or genital contact, but a few weeks back, my boyfriend fingered me but not into my vagina as I was wearing clothes. Is there a chance for me to get pregnant in this case? If he fingered me over the clothes, is it possible for the semen to travel down to my vagina through the layers of my clothes? Also, I have PCOS, and I was extremely stressed this month, which can also be the reason for my delayed periods. But I am worried about whether I can be pregnant or not.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through the details presented by you.

To get pregnant, the sperm must be released inside the vagina of the female. These sperms then need to fertilize an egg which may or may not be available depending upon the ovulation pattern of the female. Finally, the fertilized egg is implanted in the uterus of the female. When all this happens successfully, a female is said to have conceived or being pregnant. In your case, there was no release of eggs, and sperm do not survive in the open for long, so the likelihood of them staying active on fingers is rare. Even if active, they cannot travel through multiple layers of clothing. In your case, PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), complemented along with stress, is most likely responsible for the delay in periods. Stress alone is responsible for delay in 25 % of females worldwide. So please do not worry and take the stress.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your response.

I was worried because I was facing symptoms like loss of appetite, anxiousness, and restlessness related to pregnancy. I cannot concentrate on anything and have stomach pain and anxiety. So this might be due to the stress I have been facing for a long time. But I just read somewhere that these can be pregnancy symptoms.

Thank you.
