Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 20-year-old female. I am 5.1 feet tall with 137 kg. I get my period every two weeks. I am almost a week late for my period but I am still having period symptoms. I am cramping, have constipation, getting pimples, and headaches. These are all the symptoms I have when I am on my period. I took four pregnancy tests and they all came out negative.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. According to your statement, you have been suffering from increased frequency of menstrual periods with prolonged period symptoms like cramping, constipation, getting pimples, headaches, etc.

Suddenly having two menstrual periods in a month can indicate a medical condition such as endometriosis, uterine fibroids or polyps, pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), premature ovarian insufficiency, sexually transmitted diseases(STD), thyroid hormone disorders, using of hormonal contraceptives, stress, erratic lifestyle, etc. You are also suffering from prolonged premenstrual symptoms like cramping, constipation, getting pimples, headaches, etc. These symptoms may go away during the first days of a period.

Treatment depends on causes. You should undergo some investigations like CBC (complete blood count), USG of W/A (whole abdomen), urine R/M/E, thyroid function test, RBS, urethral swab for C/S, TVS (transvaginal ultrasound), etc. Find out the underlying causes for your present sufferings and then treat them accordingly.
